X3: The K-Style Gutter Roll Forming Machine That Produces 3 Different Profiles
2 min read

The X3 is the gutter roll forming machine designed and manufactured in-house by Rollbend, in Braga, Portugal, built to produce K-style gutters — the profile characterized by a decorative, angular front face, widely used in residential and commercial drainage systems. Unlike single-profile machines, the X3 produces three distinct K-style profiles — 300 mm, 380 mm, and 325 mm — on the same line, through a roll kit change. This flexibility solves a real problem for roofing and drainage installers: different width and flow-capacity requirements depending on the project, without needing to invest in three separate machines.

Why the gutter profile matters

Before getting into the numbers, it's worth explaining what changes between profiles. The profile width (the "roll size") directly determines the gutter's water flow capacity — the wider the profile, the higher the flow rate it can handle during heavy rainfall. Choosing the right profile depends on roof area, regional rainfall levels, and the sizing standards applicable to the project.

The 3 K-style profiles produced by the X3

Profile 01 — 300 mm (5")

  • Coil width: 11.81"
  • Roll size: 300 mm
  • The most compact of the three profiles, suited to smaller roof areas or installations with limited space.

Profile 02 — 380 mm (6")

  • Coil width: 14.96"
  • Roll size: 380 mm
  • The largest of the three profiles, with the highest flow capacity — suited to larger roofs or high-rainfall areas.

Profile 03 — 325 mm (5")

  • Coil width: 12.80"
  • Roll size: 325 mm
  • A mid-range profile, sharing the same profile height (127 mm) as Profile 01 but with a wider base — a balance between capacity and compactness.

All three profiles share the same base geometry (45° bend, 2 mm radius, 0.5 mm reference thickness), ensuring structural consistency and making it easier to standardize accessories — joints, corners, and end caps — across the different profiles.

In-house manufacturing, from design to assembly

The X3 is designed and built entirely at Rollbend's facilities in Braga — from machine design to CNC machining, cutting, welding, and final assembly. This means any adjustment to the roll kit, maintenance, or adaptation to a customer-specific profile is handled internally, without relying on external suppliers or import lead times.

Who the X3 is for

The X3 is built for gutter manufacturers and installers who need to respond to varying project specifications without expanding their machine fleet — from metalworking and roofing companies to distributors of metal gutter systems.
